The promise
Four reasons your car is safer with us.
Fully licensed & insured
Federally licensed, bonded, and fully insured, so your prized vehicle is protected every mile and you have complete peace of mind.
Photographed at pickup & delivery
Every panel documented before the trailer rolls and again at drop-off. Condition is factual, not theoretical.
One driver, end-to-end
No load-board hand-offs mid-trip, no swapped carriers. The driver who picks up is the one who delivers.
We monitor the load end-to-end
We track your vehicle for the entirety of the load, from pickup to delivery, so we always know exactly where it is.
Pricing & payment
How much does it cost to ship my car?
Pricing depends on the route, distance, vehicle size, and whether you choose open or enclosed transport. Send us your pickup and delivery locations and the vehicle, and we'll text you an accurate estimate in minutes. No obligation.
What factors determine the price?
Mileage between pickup and delivery is the biggest one. From there: vehicle size and weight (a dually takes more deck space than a Civic), running condition, open versus enclosed, and how soon it needs to move. Flexible dates almost always price better than a hard deadline.
When do I pay?
Nothing is due when you book. We securely save your card to lock in your price and reserve your spot, and it's only charged when a carrier is assigned to your shipment — typically 2–3 days before your move date. Cancel free any time before then. No cash due at delivery, no surprises at the door.
Will the price change after I book?
No, the price you book is the price you pay. Estimates are valid for 72 hours; once you confirm, your rate is locked. The only thing that changes a locked price is a change to the shipment itself, like a new destination or a vehicle that turns out to be non-running.
How much more does enclosed cost than open?
On most lanes, enclosed runs 40–80% more than open. The premium covers the hard-sided trailer, higher cargo insurance limits, and specialist drivers hauling fewer cars per truck. For a daily driver, open is usually the right call; for anything expensive or impossible to repair, enclosed pays for itself.
Booking & scheduling
How far in advance should I book?
The more notice, the more likely you get exactly the dates you want. Open carriers can often pick up within 1–3 days of booking; enclosed usually needs 3–7 because fewer trucks run that equipment. If the car has to move now, tell us. Expedited options exist on most routes.
What do you need from me to book?
Pickup and delivery locations (city and ZIP is enough to start), a contact name and phone number at each end, the vehicle's year, make, and model, whether it runs, and the date it's ready. The whole thing takes a few minutes by text.
Can I book before I know the exact address?
Yes. City and ZIP code are enough to price and reserve the shipment. Just get us the exact street address before pickup day so the driver can plan the stop.
Can I track my shipment?
We monitor every load from pickup to delivery and send updates at each milestone: picked up, in transit, arriving. And because you have one point of contact the whole way, a quick text gets you a real answer, not a phone tree.
Are pickup and delivery dates guaranteed?
They're windows, not promises. Weather, traffic, and federally mandated driver rest hours can shift a truck's schedule by a day. What we guarantee is honesty: realistic windows up front, and an immediate heads-up if anything moves.
Pickup & delivery
Do you offer door-to-door pickup and delivery?
Yes. We pick up and deliver as close to your door as the truck can safely and legally get. Car haulers are big, so if your street has tight turns, low branches, or parking restrictions, the driver will arrange a nearby spot like a shopping-center lot that works for both of you.
Does someone have to be there at pickup and delivery?
Yes, someone 18 or older needs to be at each end to release or accept the vehicle, hand over the keys, and sign the inspection report. It doesn't have to be you; anyone you trust works.
How long will my car take to arrive?
Figure roughly one day of transit per 400–500 miles once the car is on the truck. A 1,000-mile move usually runs 2–3 days, coast to coast about a week. We'll give you a realistic pickup and delivery window with your estimate, and updates throughout transit.
What is the Bill of Lading?
It's the condition report and transport agreement in one, completed at pickup, signed again at delivery, and the document any insurance claim is built on. On top of it, we photograph every panel at pickup and delivery, so the car's condition is factual, not a memory.
What happens at delivery?
The driver unloads, you walk the car together and compare it against the pickup photos and the Bill of Lading, then you sign the final inspection and take your keys. Five minutes when everything's right, and because we document both ends, it almost always is.
Where do you ship?
We're Austin-based and ship nationwide: all 50 states, including US territories. Whether it's across town or coast to coast, we've got it covered.
Preparing your vehicle
How do I get my car ready for transport?
Wash it (a clean car makes the pickup inspection accurate), leave about a quarter tank of gas, remove toll tags and anything valuable, and disable the alarm. If it has quirks like a weak battery, slow leak, or tricky start, tell the driver before loading.
Can I leave personal items in the car?
Up to about 100 pounds, packed in the trunk or below the window line. Keep in mind personal items aren't covered by the carrier's cargo insurance. The car is insured, the boxes aren't, so don't ship anything you'd hate to lose.
Do I need license plates or registration to ship it?
No. We just need the vehicle and the keys. Cars without plates, fresh auction purchases, and project cars mid-title-transfer are all fine.
Can you ship a non-running or project car?
Absolutely. Non-running, project, and inoperable vehicles ride on carriers with a winch and the right equipment. There's a surcharge for the extra work. Just tell us it doesn't run when you request your estimate so we dispatch the right truck the first time.
What about lowered, lifted, or oversized vehicles?
All shippable. The trailer just has to match the vehicle. Anything under about 4 inches of clearance needs an enclosed trailer with a lift gate; lifted trucks and oversized builds need taller decks. Tell us the modifications and dimensions up front and we'll send a carrier whose equipment actually fits.
Do you ship motorcycles?
Yes. Motorcycles ride strapped and secured on carriers equipped for two wheels, and the process is the same as a car: estimate by text, photographed at both ends, fully insured door to door.
Service & coverage
Open or enclosed transport: which should I choose?
Open transport is the affordable standard for daily drivers, the two-deck carrier you see on the highway. Enclosed is a hard-sided trailer with full protection from weather and road debris, the right call for exotics, classics, low-clearance cars, or anything you'd rather not expose. When in doubt, we'll recommend the best fit.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we dispatch carries motor-truck cargo insurance (typically around $100,000 per vehicle on open trailers and $250,000 to $1 million+ on enclosed), and we can share the carrier's certificate of insurance before pickup. On top of that, we're a federally licensed, bonded broker.
Are you a broker or a carrier?
We're a federally licensed, bonded auto transport broker, but not the load-board kind. Every shipment is dispatched to a vetted carrier we know by name, the driver who picks up is the one who delivers, and you have one point of contact from first text to final delivery.
What types of vehicles do you ship?
Daily drivers, SUVs and trucks, classics, exotics, lowered and lifted builds, non-runners, motorcycles, and multi-car moves. If it rolls, or even if it doesn't, we can move it. 10,000+ vehicles and counting.
Can you pick up from a dealership or auction?
Yes, dealerships, auctions, race shops, and storage facilities are routine. Make sure the vehicle is paid for and released, send us the lot or buyer number and any release details, and we'll coordinate directly with the facility.
Do you offer expedited shipping?
Yes. When the schedule is the priority, we can prioritize dispatch and tighten the pickup window on most routes. Tell us your deadline when you request the estimate and we'll tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

The man behind it all
Hi, I'm Nick.
“Cars have been my obsession for as long as I can remember. I don't just transport them. I build them, race them, and live for them. That hands-on background means I understand the care every vehicle deserves, whether it's an exotic, a restored classic, or your daily driver.
When you book with Nick's Auto Transport, you're not getting a call center or a load board. You're getting me, personally, from the first text to final delivery. I treat every car like it's my own, because reputation is the only thing worth building in this business.”
